Taco time

Happy Saturday evening stampers, scrappers & crafters!
I made a taco and I wasn't going to post it, I thought you'd all think I was for sure a real loon! As in looney, whacked and loco! Well, I probably do fall into that category, so taco time new wave baby it is! Whoo hoo!
I thought using my paper shredder would be a good start for my lettuce and cheddar cheese but the strips were to wide, so I cut each one down and cut my little tomatoes (salmonella free) Wink! My taco, well, you are probably getting a good laugh or maybe a hankering for a taco! It is a regular meal as well as enchiladas in our house.
Oh well the taco is what it is! Perhaps a bit wild and silly, but it is original!
Have a beautiful Sunday, we are still in the triple digits here! I feel for the poor life guards this weekend, they have been so busy with thousands at the beach for relief! Gosh they are so cute and buff! Those were the days...
Be back soon, take care! Thanks for stopping by!

Cute onesie

Happy Thursday stampers, scrappers & crafters!

Today I am sharing with you a cute onsie I just made, and I think it turned out as cute as these little clothes pins are! What do you think? I got into making baby cards after I sent off Patsy's baby card to the UK. So long story short, I am a onesie machine now, no die cut, but I did make a little template to use each time. It isn't perfect machine looking but I think is has lots of cuteness and is lovable! Boy onesie's are on their way! I have seen an amazing onesie where the collar and sleeve areas are cut with a scallop punch, it is the cutest one I ever have seen! I am sorry I don't know who it was created by to give credit, but before I would post one I would find out for sure! (wink)! I will have to give it a go soon.
Soaring temps still prevail here in San Diego, CA. close to 100 degrees today! The latest is that a cooling trend is to begin over the weekend and into next week fpr a significant change! Okay Mr. Weatherman I will hope your satellite is right this time! LOL! The ocean is still cold though in the 60 degree range, won't get over 70 degrees until July or August. Oh yeah baby!
So the card is easy pezy as they say, plus a joy to make!
Details:
CS-White-PTI, Pretty In Pink-SU!
PP-K & Co.Stamp-SU!
Ink-SU! Regal Rose
Gigham ribbon-My favorite local stamp store (Stamping Details rocks)!

A Moo For You

Happy Wednesday stampers, scrappers & crafters!

Well that sure was some great NBA Finals last night! The Celtics were so hot and won the finals! My Lakers played poorly, it was so sad to watch, ya know the agony of defeat! But I am a die hard fan!
We are quite warm here is San Diego, as I know Alex is too up in northern Cali. Summer is a tad early and hotter, what happened to June gloom? Oh dear! Poor Lobie is just passed out and drinking lots of water! LOL!
I had ordered some of "Judith's" stamps from my favorite local stamp store, Stamping Details. They came in and this is one of them, I just adore the line up, don't you? Moo whoo! Hope the picture is okay, not looking great at my end!
Card details: CS-White-PTI

Hog Wash

Happy Tuesday stampers, scrappers & crafters!

I haven't been real active with my blog and blurfing past few days, I had a little set back. I am doing my best to get some cute stuff done to share with you all though! (wink)!
Now all I can say it is all just hog wash! I love this great stamp from High Hopes! There are getting squeaky clean to be sure! I was thinking about the last piggie though, who is going to wash his back? Maybe they trade positions in the tub aye? I am always worried about the these things you know!
We are soaring with some summer temps today 90 degrees on the mountain! I managed to get Pete to install another ceiling fan in my office/guest room, and if I had the energy it would be entirely devoted to my craft/stamp room. The ceiling fans sure are much more attractive than the old days, I found a hip wheat color rattan one. The base is a nice rust and it works great!
I try not to turn on the a/c if possible to conserve energy. So for now the fans are doing fine!
Any Celtic fans out there? I am of course an L.A. Laker fan, it will be a great game! I adore Kolbe Bryant, he so rocks!
Card details:
CS-Pretty in Pink & Bashful Blue (SU)! PP-AC
Stamp(s)-Image & sentiment-(High Hopes)
Ink-Black-(Inkadinkado)
Embellies- Cuttebug folder-Spots & Dots, Stickles. pink satin ribbon-Michael's.
Have a wonderful evening, I am off to watch the NBA Finals!
Thanks for stopping by, it is just so special you know!

AFSS 21 All Boxed Up Water Melons

Happy Friday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
I finally have something to share with you! It's about time! I have never made these
purse's/totes before, so I figured it was high time I challenged myself! Allison's challenge this week prompted me to get on it! I had already begun a water melon card, then when I saw Allison's challenge, my little noggin' got to thinking!
I've seen so many of the fabulous SU! gals making these wonderful bags, purses and boxes, just easy as pie for those rocking gals! So I figured what the heck I am going for it! Worse thing that can happen is I trash it and start over right? I had already made a watermelon card that I was about to post, then I starting thinking I should just cut it in half and make one of these darling purses!
I remembered I had a watermelon die for my Big Shot, so I used it to secure my brads to the strips that became my handles. That worked out well, whew!
Thanks to Allison for having this challenge, or I would have never tried this project!
I did need to try something outside the box, at least for me it was! He he! Okay, Allison, so where is your white on white card? You go girl! (laugh)!
Thanks to the great tutorial on Angie's blog Chic n' Scratch, I think I watched the video 10 times!
Thanks for stopping by and visiting today! On to Beate's sketch for the weekend!

White on white challenge ending Sunday!
The entries thus far have been so lovely! Good luck to all of you! Thanks for playing along!

Alex's challenge

Happy Sunday evening stampers, scrappers & crafters!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and will have a good healthy productive week ahead!
I am just doing pretty well, I had to pinch myself in fact! For real? I had two good well days in a row, so side by side happy faces went up on my calendar! It has been way to long since that has occurred! Thank you lord! (huge smile)! So keep your toes, legs, arms and of course your fingers crossed I have continued well days!
My new banner is from a picture I took on the side of the road in Kauai. These Plumeria's were just too amazing to pass by, not to mention the fabulous aroma! Oh my! Thanks for the nice comments on it already! I am touched you noticed! I thought it was time for a new picture!
Now on to my hula penguin card, isn't it a cutie? It is for Alex's (California Stamping) first sketch challenge! Oh that Alex is just too much! I adore her and all of the laughs we have! Not to mention her patient help with me and my blog! The siggie thing is easy for probably 95% of you bloggers and techie's, well I am a bit blogger challenged at times, so I fall into the 5% crowd! I went through the motions after it was set up, and it was okay, but I didn't realize you couldn't permanently save it to appear each time! So that may be an additional step sometimes I don't wish to do! Needless to say dear Alex set me up and I appreciate her very much! Opps sorry got a bit side tracked! The card...
Card recipe: White card stock-PTI , blue and golden color paper -Mix pack Michael's.
Stamps: Hula penguin-Imaginisce. Background stamp- Hero Arts. Sentiment-(sorry not sure). Flowers-Eyelets Etc...Rhinestones -Kaiser.Ink-Brilliant Blue-SU. Stickles-Fruit punch on bikini. Dimensionals beneath penguin & sentiment.
Alrighty then, thanks for stopping by and I hope to be back real soon! Take care!

Coffee pleasures

Happy Wednesday stampers, scrappers & crafters!

I had this fun vintage label paper from Flair Designs, so I thought I would make the coffee and rooster one for my card! I think there are 12 images on a page. I went to the refrigerator this morning and much to my chagrin, the half and half was gone! OMG! I drank some Starbuck's rocket fuel Samatra black! So off to clean craft boxes in attempt to locate a tool that had been MIA and post this card! So for a minute I have energy! (wink)! BTW, I found the tool too!
Receipe: Cardstock-Choc. brown (Bazzill), Wild Wasabi (SU)! PP-Rooster/coffee ( Flair Designs). DP-(SU)? Scallop punch (SU)! Rooster embellie (Michael's) Offray ribbon by the yard Michael's. Sentiment stamp (not sure, lose in baggie)! Rust mini brads-stash. Scallop punch (SU)!
Poor lighting this morning as the sun is not out yet, sorry about the quality of the picture!
The test yesterday was really something! Not something I would care to partake in again! Now I know how the bunnies feel when my huge German Shepherd chases them! My heart was thumbing so hard and fast, it felt as though it was gonna pop right out! It was so weird to have your heart rate sped up and not be moving! Thank goodness that is over! My ticker is in great shape, at least something is, right? He he! Whew!
Have a wonderful day, yummie challenge on the way! Take care, thanks for stopping by!

Cherries Merci

Happy Tuesday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
Beautiful day in southern California today! I am off to I do believe, my last test involving an IV! Whoo hoo! The US Golf Torney is starting up, and Scripps (the private hospital, I go to) is right on the course and ocean (so nice). I would imagine the traffic will be a bit congested at my off ramp. LOL! I have a special lot to park in with a sticker, since I believe those golfers are a sneakie bunch using the hospital parking lot! (wink) Tiger Woods will be trying for his title, he always plays well at the Torrey Pines course, it is a beauty and quite a challenging course.
Is it too late to order the Tart & Tangy set? I sent an email to my SU demo gal and have not heard back yet, perhaps she is away. I thought they extended it a bit, if anyone knows please let me know! Also, did you see the cool pre order SU Alex has posted on her site? Looks like a great set and deal! I am sure you are all as anxious as I am for the new catty to come out this summer!
Being as that I don't have a cherry stamp, I felt like cherries today because my DH and I sat on the porch and shared a bowl of cherries the other day! I will cherish that sweet memory, it is the little things that really are huge to me these days more so than ever! I found this paper by Imagination from last summer's stash (two sided) and made use of it! My Papertrey Inc. white paper came yesterday, yippie skppie! Love their paper! I used Real Red by SU! CB folder -cirlces & dots I think it is called. Small Marvy oval scallop punch. Sentiment-Merci -SU! Ink- Real Red- SU! Three little rhinestones from stash and I found a loose piece of red ribbon to go with it too! Kinda cute don't ya think and cherrie too?
I had better go and get ready now, I am happy I was able to post a card this morning! Have a terrific day and happy stamping everyone!
I am working on the Blog Appreciation give away, stay tuned, no flip a roonies! He he!
Be back soon, thanks for stopping by! Take good care, Deb

Essentials of happiness

Happy Friday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
Just a quickie post before I go off a dreaded test! If all goes well it will be tolerable, if there are issues then it will require a further procedure, while I am asleep. If that is the case it will kick my butt afterwards, harder for me to bounce back! So, I am in God's and my most wonderful doctor's hands. I praying for the tolerable version! (wink)! I want to be able to stamp this weekend at some point, so keep your fingers crossed for me! There is Beate's challenge to do my goodness! (wink)! Lets get things straight here! LOL!

Happy Birthday

(click to see pretty paper close up)

Happy Friday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
One more day left this week, I am so over it! Another test tomorrow!!! I am put to sleep for this procedure, so I will be a mess for a few days. My body just gets knocked out! Then I get a break until next week! I will take them as they come! (wink)! Thanks for your prayers!
I started this card yesterday and was too tired to finish up, so this morning before I left, I completed it. The paper (s-e-i) is just so pretty IRL and the glitter sparkles so! It is some of my new paper stash! I hole punched the side and did my bow thingie, used the Marvy Mega circle scallop Punch and stamped Happy Birthday (SU) with Purely Pomegranate (SU) ink. Pop ups beneath scallop. I think perhaps I will save this one for my Mom's big 90th birthday! This is a big card too! I hope you like it, this was fun to make!
Wishing everyone a wonderful evening and happy Friday, since I won't be able to post tomorrow and I don't have a card in me tonight. I will try and make up for it over the weekend, God willing! Hugs to all! Take care, Deb

Thinking of you

Happy Wednesday stampers, scrappers and crafters!
First off, I want to thank those of you that left such nice supportive comments and well wishes with regard to my tests yesterday. My on going health challenges do take a toll on me, so when I come home and check my comments, a smile and appreciation comes over me for this wonderful community I am a part of.
As for the tests, my hemoglobin is low as I suspected again. My doctor is away from the hospital and after the lab results are discussed I will be instructed. Another blood transfusion may be ordered. Tomorrow I go back for an IV cardio test, that should be fun! I think I do have a break until nest week then! Yippie skippie!
I still make cards just as often as I can and when I am able I go for it! Yesterday on the way home I stopped by my favorite store and bought some pattern paper! I needed a happy feel good purchase! Just what the doc ordered! (wink)!
This card is made by some of the new S-e-i collection, I think it is just adorable!

Peaceful Wishes

Happy Friday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
It has been quite a long week for me, it seemed to take forever for Friday to come! Meeting up with with DH twice this week at the coast and going to wonderful resturants, and to Scripps Hospital appointment together was great, but very draining on me! I have been left with zero energy and spent all of yesterday in bed ailing from my health condition. No fun for sure! I shall preservere , so onward and upward!
Last night I felt some what better and just had to make a couple of cards or bust! So I did just that!
This SU set was the my very first stamp set I ever purchased and the rest is history! (wink)!

Let us be grateful

(click image to read saying, if needed)

Happy Wednesday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
Today I am off to the beach to meet hubby at train station and go to my doctor. We will be finished about 4:00 PM, and then we'll go and have an early dinner at a nice ocean front restaurant, before Pete heads back to job for remainder of the week.
It is nice when we can combine the doc and a good time, otherwise it can be a bit much! LOL
The card I am posting today I just made this morning, after cutting the rubber last night! This SU set is called Sidekick Sayings (retired, I think). It has 3 delightful vertical sayings. The card stock used is Very Vanilla (SU) and the nice pp is A2Z-Delightful-Sugar Candy (two sided). Real Red (SU). Pearl accent Ellen Hutson. Ribbon, Michael's. Dimensionals beneath sentiment. Always Artichoke ink for sentiment (though dificult to tell in picture).
Have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by! I hope to be back soon! I would love to catch up on some great sketch's and challenges out there this week! LOL! Be well, Deb

Beate's WSCS # 47

Happy Mother's Day stamping, scrapping & crafty Moms!
I am sure you were all showered with love and pampering today! We celebrated Mom's Day, yesterday, since my dd had to work today. Actually it was quite lovely and not a zoo at the country club where we had a spectacular lunch on the veranda. I blessed with 2 of my 3 daughters, the sun was shining bright and they made me feel so loved! My eldest daughter in Calgary, sent me a generous stamp gift certificate for Impress stamps. I adore that company!
On to the card making now ladies...
As you may have noticed I have been on an Hawaiian / island influence kick lately. So keeping with that I made this sketch for Beate's weekly challenge with an aloha theme.
The card was fun to make, I had this pattern paper forever and it was great to get it out and use some of it! Hope you like my take on the sketch!
Card stock- Whisper White (SU) Beige/goldish (Bazzill), Black (Bazzill) PP (Stampin Station)
Hula Girls stamp- (Inkadinkado) . Versafine Onyx ink, aloha stamp-( Rubber Stampede) . Versafine onyx ink
Marvy oval scallop punch, rhinestones from stash, ribbon by the yard Michael's, corner round punch (aloha).

Seahorse Birthday Wishes

Happy Thursday stampers, scrappers & crafters!

We have here in southern California today what is referred to as May gray! It is just that, gray skies of low clouds over the ocean and into the inland about 25 miles. Then we move into June gloom! There will be some random days of hot sun and wonderful days in between this coastal mess, but few and far between. There are many days when the sun shines through up on the mountain, but the coast stays socked in with low cloud cover. Good time for stamping! So that is my so Cal weather update! It is the same every year! We will try to get out to Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage soon, as it is lovely there now in the mid 80's. MY DH Dad lives out there and I do the spa thingie. It is about an 90 minute drive, not bad at all. There are incredible outlets on the way if I have it in me! Coach and Liz Clairborne and Guess, and Eddie Bauer. Pottery Barn, just to mention a few of my favs. Hubby is pretty good about it, he is NOT a shopper though. He would rather just hand me the cash and go watch sports and have a beer while I shop! Okay with me! He does like going into cool scrapbook/stamp stores with me, funny guy my Pete!
This pattern paper by Serendipity just caught my eye! I am a seahorse fan and I love the colors!I thought it best to let the paper take center stage. I added clear dew drops for the seashorse's bubbles, and the birthday wishes sentiment (?) used my corner tag SU punch on paper by Bazzill, ribbon by the yard Michael's.
Thanks for all of your great comments on my constant sentiment search! I concur with SU being great, and I am now inspired to go over to CHF and take a looksie! I am always searching for good ones on ebay too! Found a wonderful SU set last night, can't wait for it to arrive!
July seems so far off right now for the new catalog from SU, but heck the way April and now May are flying it'll be here before we know it! We better start making the picnic baskets for the 4th of July! (Just kiddin')!
Have a terrific happy and healthy day! Thanks for stopping by! I will be back soon, Deb

Bird tree

Happy Tuesday stampers. scrappers & crafters!

I certainly hope that your day is going great and all is well!
I recently bought this wonderful Tree Birds stamp (Impression Obsession) at a little stamp store near me with my daughter, we were just delighted when we saw it! I saw the coloring possibilities which I adore to do and couldn't wait to ink it up! I used Copics, and Dimensional Pearls on the birdies. Harmony stamp-(Hero Arts).
The card stock is Pretty In Pink (SU) and the blue is from Prisma. The PP I think was American Crafts. Corner ticket punch (SU) pop dots and satin ribbon by the yard from Michael's.
Thanks for visiting me today, I will be back soon! Resting up for Mother's Day!
Happy stamping! Deb

Aloha Penquin

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
I hope everyone enjoyed some form of creativity today!
This card today is from one of the darling hula penguin's stamps my Aloha April RAK sister Charlene, sent to me (previous post). My BF Cindy, had given me the cool background stamp by Hero Arts awhile back, so this was the perfect time to ink up the rubber! I didn't have an aloha stamp, so I hand wrote it and punched it out with my SU word punch. Pink Passion ink, SU (background stamp). penquin-black ink-Inkadinkado pad, Copic markers, pink Prima and bling. Marvy Scallop punches, pop dots. I sent this card off to my darling 3 year old grand daughter in Canada, along with the goodies I brought back for Isabella and baby Bennett from Kauai.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend! I will be back soon! Thanks for stopping by! Deb

Home from paradise

Some pictures to share...

Upon arrival, a tradtion my brother has is to take Kauai visitors to Duke's Canoe Club, Cindy and me (right).
Wailua River is amazing, so tranquil and the jungle comes right to the river. Check out the cool roots on the trees.

Happy Thursday stampers, scrappers & crafters! I am back!

Aloha everyone! Paradise was lovely as usual!
Trip summary:
The flight over was a bit difficult for me, as my legs were not fans of the long ride. We arrived safely in paradise and my BFF was my handy wheelchair assistant! What a significant help that was! My brother and his lovely wife met us with gorgeous lei's in hand and swept us off to a wonderful lunch at Dukes Canoe Club on the beach, yum!
We got to our condo and were so delighted with the gorgeous accommodations we had, the grounds were tropical and lush and perfect for us! I was exhausted and we rested that evening to recover for the next day!
I was the tour guide, as Cindy had not been before to Kauai. We went to gorgeous beach in Poipu and did a bit of snorkeling and then headed off for the north shore (about 2 hours). The drive is spectacular and many points of interest along the way! I took Cindy to Ke'ee Beach where Pete and I were married and she loved it so much! (What's not to love)! Each day was wonderful sharing together the beauty many food stops together! We kayaked with my brother and SIL. Margie. Margie had been doing a week long seminar on facial release and had met some need friends that joined us. Margie announced that there is an incredible trail through the jungle to a waterfall off of the Wailua River, (the degree of difficulty was not discussed with me, just great)! My brother had not been on this hike and as it turned out, it was way to much of a challenge with my health issues to conquer. Nonetheless, stupid me, I tried to be a tropper, and it really was not worth it for me in the end, but what are ya going to do? I had to give it a go! The girls gathered around me, and did their energy thingie. it was quite surreal there in the jungle, but I was not budging off of my mossy rock! My dear brother stayed with me and we sent the others on to enjoy the waterfall. It was nice to sit in the jungle with my bro and chat! Very cool! So I chomped down an energy bar and prayed I would make it back to the boat! LOL!
Well in a nutshell, that was the end of my good days in Kauai! Luckily it was toward the end of the trip and I rested 1/2 days at the condo and then would go to the beach for lunch and dinner. I was done in and not in good shape ladies! We all knew (family & friends)that this could be a possibility for me as traveling and over doing takes it toll on me, which is a shame because I love to travel to cool places!
Now home 10 days, I am still quite weak and ill, trying to avoid the doctor for now! Today is the first time I could even think about making a card and posting! I feel so blessed that I made it to Kauai and did as well as I did even if it was for just 4 of the 7 days! Seeing my brother and his new home and spending time on the island with my best bud Cindy was worth it all!
I missed my blogging and seeing all of your gorgeous creations! Google reader is off the charts way over 1000, I will just have to start fresh I guess! Yikes!
Super hugs, and more pics coming! Thanks for stopping by and visitng me!

Warmest Wishes

Happy Thursday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
I am lagging on my blogging in preparation of my trip to Kauai Sunday. It is really something how much there is to do just to leave my little life for a week! Kennel, medication refills, doctor stuff, pedicure, find bathing suit, exctra clean guest room add nice aroma candle re make the bed with beautiful 500 TC sheets (for my BFF) health food sealed/bagged items for condo etc... I do believe after I get my hair done tomorrow I am finished with the prep! Thank goodness, it is wearing me out, and and I haven't even left yet! No worries, I am so laying on the beach the first day and doing nothing except snorkeling and eating! Sounds good to me! A sunset massage is on the menu too! Ahhhhh.....
I want to give a special thank you to Marlou, Angel, Allison, Samm and Alex and anyone else I may have missed, for their wonderful awards they have honored me with! I am not very good about playing these tags, but I do appreciate them more than you know! You are all so special to me! Back at you great blogging friends! (smiles) MERCI!
My card for today is a sweet and simple card, I hope you like it! The picture is a bit light, sorry! CS-White & Aqua Mist Papertrey Inc. PP-Spring Gliiter pack-JoAnn's, Stamp- source unknow, SU? I'm longing for you

Happy Wednesday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
Are we having fun yet? Have you been bathing suit shopping lately? What an experience that is! LOL! I go for the takini type of suits, and it is so hard for me to find one that the top fits and the bottom fits too! You can of course buy them as separates for over $100.00, but I just can't seem to justify that! So today I shall search again and pick up the snorkel and fins set at Costco. I am a Pisces true to form, I am such a fish and love being in the water! I could snorkel all day! Kauai has some great reefs and places to see the sea turtles and many beautiful fish. Can you tell I am just a wee bit looking forward to this getaway to paradise?
Now my giraffe card for today! This is my first giraffe stamp and I must say it is so cute from Gina K. I partially embossed the Swiss Dots CB folder on either side of the card stock and stamped the giraffe in the middle. I got this partial use of the CB idea from Beate, thanks Beate!
Supplies: CS-Papertrey Inc. - Apricot Appeal-SU! -PP-Glitter Spring pack-JoAnn's-Stamps-Gina K- Ink-Chocolate Chip SU! Flower & brad-MM-ribbon-LSS. Dimensionals under giraffe image. Prismacolored pencils, Copic marker, blender pen.
I'm off to do some errands for my trip, so I can be finished with the running around ahead of time! LOL!
Have a wonderful day, I hope the sun is shining where you are! Thanks for stopping by, I'll be back soon! I will have to blurf about later! (wink) Deb
