Airline gone out of business...

So I am watching the evening news last night and I hear the broadcaster say that after 61 years ALOHA AIRLINES has gone out of business and the last flight s will be March 31, 2008! What the...but how can this be? We are booked on Aloha APril 13th and returning April 2oth? This awful feeling came over me and I felt sick and so screwed!
There is no recourse with them, as they have gone to bankruptcy court. Perhaps someday we may be able to get reimbursed from the credit card companies. But in the meantime, what the heck do we do? Our condo and car rental is paid in full, we have to get to the islands! It is a very long swim, I would never make it past the breakers! LOL Deb!
So we searched and searched within our criteria for flights and finally found the best we could. As we searched the prices were rising every 10-15 minutes by $20-30.00! Not to mention flights were filling up faster than you can imagine! We have re booked another flight and paid $200.00 more and that is that! What a ton of stress this has been! Who would have thought this could happen? Well, the good news is we are back on track and flying out to Kauai in 2 weeks (God willing)!
Needless to say, I din't make a card today! Perhaps tonite! Deb

Enjoy life's simple pleasures

Happy Saturday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
I just bought some OMS , although I used a nose mask and kept an open window right next to me! I have no clue as to what I am doing with the shading and blending! LOL! I also bought these little guys called stumps, for applying the shading effect.,well the dear gal at Michael's forgot to put them in my bag! So I have been improvising with another applicator for now. This stuff is really tricky for me, and it will take lots of practice, just like the Copics do! My art inspiration and whom I aspire to some day be able to color and shade half as well as i s Ila, over at Artfully Ila! ( I can never get the darn links to work!) sorry! If you aren't familiar with her High Hopes artistry you are in for a treat! Check out her blog for sure! Ila is so darn sweet, not to mention her endless emails back and forth to me with all of my questions! I just wish I could spend a day with her! There is just a slight geographical hurdle however, she is way up in Canada ( eastern portion I think) and I am way down here in southern California! Darn I hate when that happens! Well at least I have been fornunate enough to get to know her at all! (smiles)!
This card is my first attempt using the spirits. The stamp is from Stampabilites, CS-Very Vanilla (SU!) -Berry Sorbet and matching pp (Papertrey Ink), leaf stamps, Treehouse Stamps, Sentiment-Treehouse stamps, Ink-Black (Inkadadinkado) Prismacolored pencils, Pastel chalks (leafs) SU! Ribbon, by the yard M's.
I hope this card is acceptable for my first mineral spirits attempt! (wink)! I will keep at it, I have nothing but time to practice as long as I am able, for which I thank God for each and every day!
Have a wonderful weekend, thanks for stoppin by! Be back soon, Deb

Hippy Birthday

Happy Thursday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
I have hippo fever! LOL! I can't get enough of this adorable hippo! I am stamping him/her like crazy! I just love the angle of the butt of this cutie! There are endless sentiments for this one! I have some great ideas, as soon as I replace my ink cartridge I can go to town with it!
I thought since there was so much punch of color in the card layers, that stamping the hippo in Pink Passion and not coloring him was effective enough in this case, what do you think? Would you have liked to have seen him chalked and shaded the hippo lightly? Just want to know what you all think, since I value your opinions so much!
Easy peasy card: CS-Papertrey Ink. white, Tempting Turquoise SU!, DP- Anna Griffin, CB folder-Textiles, Hippo stamp & sentiment-Gina K Designs, Ink-Pink Passion-SU! Ribbon-$ bin Michael's,Prima flowers & MM pink brad, corner punch SU! Dimensionals beneath hippo.
On the home front, I have a painting project in progress...each day depending on how I feel, I work on it a bit. I have finished 2 window frames and window sills, and the casing /molding around the front door (inside) , the chair rail (some of it) and I started on the wall in kitchen. There is something about fresh paint and spring! I love Cottage White ( that would be a good name for paper) by Dunn Edwards. (Dunn Edwards is top brand here), it is used by many high end painting contractors, and what a difference good paint makes! I am using a semi-gloss for these particular areas and it goes on like a dream! Looking great thus far! My body is not appreciating this extra activity! It really is pissing me off not to just do what my motivation and mind want to do! Little by little, instead of being completed in 2 days, it will take me a week. I just have to go with it ! (wink)! I am exhausted and am looking forward to a bubble bath and rest! The end result of my efforts will be fresh and nice! Eventually! He he!
Hope you have all had a really wonderful day and you are all well. I will be back soon! Thanks for visiting today! Deb

Berry Sorbet merci

Happy Wednesday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
I just received a wonderful pack of yummy paper from Papertrey Inc. I ordered the Berry Sorbet cs, and the Aqua Mist. Gorgeous colors and paper! I also got a pack of 6 x 6 pretty pattern paper that goes with the Berry Sorbet. I am quite impressed with this company, the service is excellent, as are the products. I forgot to order the clear boxes for note cards, next time!
This card is made using the heart and merci stamp from the last SU! SAB mini(merci set). I stamped the image on Whisper White (SU!) with black Inkadinkado ink, and layered with the new Paper Trey Inc. papers. Soft pastel chalks (SU!). Corner punch (SU!) Dimensionals beneath third layer. Sorbet ribbon, I found a perfect match from color memory while shopping at Michael's yesterday! It worked out well! I didn't even have a sample of the Berry Sorbet with me, just in my mind! Not bad Deb! The ribbon is sold by the yard, I am going back and buying it all up! LOL!
On a blog post note: I seem to have trouble adding a link to things? What I am doing wrong? Thanks for your help!
Have a great day, happy stampin' and be well! I will be back soon! Thanks for your visits! Deb

Beate's WSCS #40

This is my card for Beate's WSCS #40 challenge, which I completely enjoyed doing! The image was sent to me by a gal I had swapped with over a year and a half ago! I was going through some special favorite swaps (save them all) and I had always adored this one! Luckily her name and email were on the back, so I contacted her and asked her info regarding the stamp. It is an old stamp from a company called Stampassions, out of business now.The stamp is called Duckie Ride. I cannot find this stamp anywhere, not on ebay nowhere! I asked her if I could buy her stamp but she wants to hang on to it! Can't blame for her that! This gal is such a sweetie, ever met a card maker than wasn't? In the mail came 30 stamped images for me to play with! I will treasure these images, and use them sparingly! Maybe someday this stamp will come and find its way to me! That's the stamp story!

Chick for Brittney

Happy Saturday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
My spring allergies are horrible and my head is ready to roll off of my shoulders, or I should say I wish it would at this point! I am unable to take any meds for this, so it is just a real bummer! Other than that ,it is a gorgeous almost 80 degrees here in San Diego, California, and I have been stamping! I take breaks and putter outside, then come back in feeling like more pollen floated through my brain! So perhaps even though it is lovely outside, I am best to sit by the big window and stamp and look out! LOL! The birdies certainly have quite a bit too sing about today! They are very busy working on maintaing their nests, back and forth with twigs! I am sweeping up after them all the time, but it is so worth it! I adore them and love their music!
This chick is for my dear sweet daughter Brittney (Britt) . Oh heck they are all so darn sweet! I am so blessed with three wonderful daughters! (Big smiles)! We all stay in touch several times a week and that means so much to dear ol' Mom! (wink)!

Mother's Day

Happy Thursday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
Hope your week is winding down nicely and many of you have a four day holiday weekend!
I had this nice paper for awhile and I thought I would make a simple card with it for Mother's Day. I wanted the paper to be the main focal point as it is so nice! My Mom will be 90 in October, and though she is doing amazing, her eyes are getting to be a bit of a problem. The condition is degenerative in elders, and in involved the back portion of the eye, eventually she won't see much. For now, she is still able to see ,and even read a bit at night when the light is bright on the pages of a book with her glasses. Keeping all of this in mind, I think it is best to use bright colors and keep Mom's cards simple.
Recipe:
CS-Shimmer green moss-Bazzill, Bashful Blue-SU!, Red-Bazzill,DP-
Stamps- SU! mini flower (ink-Real Red SU! - Happy Mother's Day-Inkadinkado
Marvy giga & mega scallop punches
Misc. red rhinestone, red -stitched ribbon-Michael's
Time to clean house a bit and do the wood furniture polish bit, so that in a half hour it will look as though I haven't done it forever! That's country living for ya! Well, I know its clean, and it smells yummy lemon!
Have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by, Deb

Easter Prima birdie

Happy Tuesday stampers, scrappers & Crafters!

I hope everyone had a good St. Paddy's Day, and the luck of the Irish came your way! It sure knocked my socks off last night,! I was visiting Ashley's (having trouble with this link) Creative Corner blog, and I saw that I was the very lucky winner of the new organic Treehouse stamp set! Oh yeah baby! Being 1/2 Irish, I guess it helped! (wink)! I am so grateful!
My card today is a cute Easter card, I used some chickie paper from last year (I am trying)! I do believe it is from Reminisce. The base card stock is Choc. Chip -SU!, and the purple paper is Bazzill, the plaid paper is the flip side of the chickie paper. Prima birdie and Marvy punches. I had to add the flowers and bling too!
Gorgeous day in San Diego today, I feet a bit better other than my spring time sinus's acting up a bit, but otherwise hangin' in there tough! (wink)!
Thanks for stopping by! Deb (I guess I am the ONLY one not to have the hip custom signature)! I better get with the program aye? (wink)! Have a wonderful evening all!

Beate's WSCS 39

Happy Sunday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
I wasn't feeling the best today, nonetheless, I sat down and made a few cards! The card I am sharing is for Beate's weekly challenge, which I do try and accomplish each week! Thanks Beate! Hugs to you!
I had this nice blossom paper and the polka dots paper staring at me each time I went through my pattern paper. So I thought they would be a nice choice for this layout. Please let me know if the picture is a bit fuzzy on your screen (the paper does have a sort of vintage appearance). When I looked at it before I uploaded it, it looked fine. Now it doesn't appear to look so clear on my screen, especially the sentiment. Darn I hate when that happens! Sorry about that!
Recipe: CS-Very Vanilla-SU! ,PP- Blossoms-Daisy D's & polka dot-Anna Griffin, Stamp sentiment-Hampton Arts Stamps, butterfly-SU!
Ink- Apricot Appeal-SU!, Gliter pen & Demensional Pearls (Butterscotch) Adironadack,, Mini Prima & mini rhinestone

Gorgeous Sunset & Aloha!

My birthday sunset! WOW!

As you can see, I was very blessed with an absolutely gorgeous sunset that followed a day of 83 degrees warming my birthday (March 11) up so nicely! The colors were spectacular in person, I took the picture from our back deck and hoped it would turn out okay to share! I think it is pretty good!

ALOHA BABY!

Some good news to report, I am going to Kauai on April 13th, for 7 glorious days, with my best and dearest girlfriend of over 40 years! Happy Saturday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
It is so nice to be able to post a card today ladies! Rough week for me, now onward to hopefully a much better one ahead! Any improvement would be greatly appreciated! (wink)!
Thank you to Beate for doing these wonderful sketches!
This is my version of Beate's #38 sketch for the weekend! Sunglasses suggested! This card is a bright one, yikes! I hope you like it, and that the yellow doesn't blind your eyes too much! Cute chickie, who could resist for a $?
My DD's took me to a early birthday lunch today, and to shopping at Nordstrom Rack, and treated me! We had a great time and they plum wore me out! Now I am going to bed at 7:00 Pm feeling awful, but it was so worth the precious time spent with my DD's. My youngest daughter, Heidi has her birthday 2 days after mine, so we are meeting up again on Wednesday, in between our birthdays! Such a treat indeed! For me, Tuesday will will be pamper Deb day...hair, nails & pedicure, ahhh... just what I need, it always makes me feel so much better (even it if is just on the outside, it feels good)!
Every Tuesday is always Farmers Market Day for me, I try and go to buy fresh organic produce and fruit grown locally. The gorgeous flowers are also grown at the nearby fields, so the bouquets are full and under $6.00! They last over a week, but I buy them fresh each week. Needless to say, I will be pooped out by dinner time! DH and I hope to be able to go out to a fancy dinner, but I think I will need to rest and we'll go another evening, which is just fine by me. Stretching out birthdays is the best part!, don't you think? (wink)!

I certainly hope that you all are having or have had a great weekend! Quiet and peaceful on the mountain and just lovely weather today! I puttered in my garden and enjoyed the signs of spring!
I did make a few cards and one of which I would like to share with you all. I had in my mind using Very Vanilla with a slight touch of color. I wanted a pretty card that was elegant looking, so this is what I came up with! How do you think it turned out? IRL it is very nice! On my screen it looks more like white than vanilla, yet of course when I uploaded it to my computer, it looked vanilla! Go figure! Does it look vanilla to you?
