So I am watching the evening news last night and I hear the broadcaster say that after 61 years ALOHA AIRLINES has gone out of business and the last flight s will be March 31, 2008! What the...but how can this be? We are booked on Aloha APril 13th and returning April 2oth? This awful feeling came over me and I felt sick and so screwed!
There is no recourse with them, as they have gone to bankruptcy court. Perhaps someday we may be able to get reimbursed from the credit card companies. But in the meantime, what the heck do we do? Our condo and car rental is paid in full, we have to get to the islands! It is a very long swim, I would never make it past the breakers! LOL Deb!
So we searched and searched within our criteria for flights and finally found the best we could. As we searched the prices were rising every 10-15 minutes by $20-30.00! Not to mention flights were filling up faster than you can imagine! We have re booked another flight and paid $200.00 more and that is that! What a ton of stress this has been! Who would have thought this could happen? Well, the good news is we are back on track and flying out to Kauai in 2 weeks (God willing)!
Needless to say, I din't make a card today! Perhaps tonite! Deb

DEB! Oh my goodness! I was getting a sick feeling in my stomachache on your behalf just reading that post! OH NO! I'm so glad you got another flight! I believe you should put that charge IN DISPUTE immediately with your credit card company. You don't have to pay it! Forget them! Let the credit card company deal with it! Deb, I want you to get to those islands, visit your brother, hang out with your friend, and have a WONDERFUL time! Stress, go away! Deb doesn't have time for it! Take care my friend!!
OK, I meant "sick feeling in my stomach", NOT stomachache! Sorry!!
OMG, Deb I am so sorry that you had to go through all that! I am glad that you found another flight & you are still going! Don't let the stress get to you, think Hawaii & enjoy & relax!
Oh my gosh, Deb...that is terrible! I'm so glad that you were able to book, after all of this mess.! I'm sure if you work with your CC company, you should be able to get your money back (I hope). Hugs!!
This sucks...I hope you get everything worked out since no vacation should be so stressful! Oh, and BTW, you have been tagged: http://stampinwhenican.blogspot.com/2008/03/lauri-awarded-me-cheer-me-up-badge-i.html
Oh My! I know this must be really stressful! At least you still have tickets to get to the island. I don't think swimming there is such a good option. But that's funny!
That is terrible, nothing like having a wonderful vacattion planned and then at the last minute having to scramble, glad to hear that everything worked out OK. I am sure that your credit card company will reimburse you, just call them and let them know you did not receive the services.
wow that's awful!! i hope everything works out and worse case you get stuck in hawaii...
Oh no!! I am so very sorry this happened Deb - I thought they were trying to get everyone rebooked on other carriers? That stinks that you had to pay more for a ticket you already had - I would definitely pursue getting reimbursed though! Ack!! I am glad you are still getting to go though! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex
Hi Deb!! This is terrible!!! I'm so sorry to hear that you and your friend are caught up in this mess. I too was surprised, shocked and sad to hear about this on the news, as it is going to impact our economy in a hard way. A lot of friends and family members have lost their jobs, and weren't even notified ahead of time. It's really sickening for alot of people. Well, I'm happy to hear that you were able to get flights on another airline, and that you're still going to make it to Kauai. You are bounded for a great time, and a relaxing time as well. Hang in there... you will be here soon!!!
Much Hugs n' Aloha,
Jen
