Essentials of happiness

Happy Friday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
Just a quickie post before I go off a dreaded test! If all goes well it will be tolerable, if there are issues then it will require a further procedure, while I am asleep. If that is the case it will kick my butt afterwards, harder for me to bounce back! So, I am in God's and my most wonderful doctor's hands. I praying for the tolerable version! (wink)! I want to be able to stamp this weekend at some point, so keep your fingers crossed for me! There is Beate's challenge to do my goodness! (wink)! Lets get things straight here! LOL!

Happy Birthday

(click to see pretty paper close up)

Happy Friday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
One more day left this week, I am so over it! Another test tomorrow!!! I am put to sleep for this procedure, so I will be a mess for a few days. My body just gets knocked out! Then I get a break until next week! I will take them as they come! (wink)! Thanks for your prayers!
I started this card yesterday and was too tired to finish up, so this morning before I left, I completed it. The paper (s-e-i) is just so pretty IRL and the glitter sparkles so! It is some of my new paper stash! I hole punched the side and did my bow thingie, used the Marvy Mega circle scallop Punch and stamped Happy Birthday (SU) with Purely Pomegranate (SU) ink. Pop ups beneath scallop. I think perhaps I will save this one for my Mom's big 90th birthday! This is a big card too! I hope you like it, this was fun to make!
Wishing everyone a wonderful evening and happy Friday, since I won't be able to post tomorrow and I don't have a card in me tonight. I will try and make up for it over the weekend, God willing! Hugs to all! Take care, Deb

Thinking of you

Happy Wednesday stampers, scrappers and crafters!
First off, I want to thank those of you that left such nice supportive comments and well wishes with regard to my tests yesterday. My on going health challenges do take a toll on me, so when I come home and check my comments, a smile and appreciation comes over me for this wonderful community I am a part of.
As for the tests, my hemoglobin is low as I suspected again. My doctor is away from the hospital and after the lab results are discussed I will be instructed. Another blood transfusion may be ordered. Tomorrow I go back for an IV cardio test, that should be fun! I think I do have a break until nest week then! Yippie skippie!
I still make cards just as often as I can and when I am able I go for it! Yesterday on the way home I stopped by my favorite store and bought some pattern paper! I needed a happy feel good purchase! Just what the doc ordered! (wink)!
This card is made by some of the new S-e-i collection, I think it is just adorable!

Peaceful Wishes

Happy Friday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
It has been quite a long week for me, it seemed to take forever for Friday to come! Meeting up with with DH twice this week at the coast and going to wonderful resturants, and to Scripps Hospital appointment together was great, but very draining on me! I have been left with zero energy and spent all of yesterday in bed ailing from my health condition. No fun for sure! I shall preservere , so onward and upward!
Last night I felt some what better and just had to make a couple of cards or bust! So I did just that!
This SU set was the my very first stamp set I ever purchased and the rest is history! (wink)!
Sorry for not writing details now, I think you can see it's pretty straight forward.
I am beyond catching up on Google reader, what's a gal to do? Just a little at a time, but every time I begin to even get a somewhat of a grip on it, there are then another 300 more! YIKES! Do others feel blogger swamped and or overwhlemed? Well, just to let you know, I love all of your blogs and creations, and I will do my best to catch up (I'm and always saying that I've noticed)! LOL I just need to get some happy face days (feeling better) going so I can blog for hours on end!
Thanks for stopping by, God bless you all, and be well!
Have a wonderful weekend! Be back soon. Hugs, Deb

Let us be grateful

(click image to read saying, if needed)

Happy Wednesday stampers, scrappers & crafters!
Today I am off to the beach to meet hubby at train station and go to my doctor. We will be finished about 4:00 PM, and then we'll go and have an early dinner at a nice ocean front restaurant, before Pete heads back to job for remainder of the week.
It is nice when we can combine the doc and a good time, otherwise it can be a bit much! LOL
The card I am posting today I just made this morning, after cutting the rubber last night! This SU set is called Sidekick Sayings (retired, I think). It has 3 delightful vertical sayings. The card stock used is Very Vanilla (SU) and the nice pp is A2Z-Delightful-Sugar Candy (two sided). Real Red (SU). Pearl accent Ellen Hutson. Ribbon, Michael's. Dimensionals beneath sentiment. Always Artichoke ink for sentiment (though dificult to tell in picture).
Have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by! I hope to be back soon! I would love to catch up on some great sketch's and challenges out there this week! LOL! Be well, Deb

Beate's WSCS # 47

Happy Mother's Day stamping, scrapping & crafty Moms!
I am sure you were all showered with love and pampering today! We celebrated Mom's Day, yesterday, since my dd had to work today. Actually it was quite lovely and not a zoo at the country club where we had a spectacular lunch on the veranda. I blessed with 2 of my 3 daughters, the sun was shining bright and they made me feel so loved! My eldest daughter in Calgary, sent me a generous stamp gift certificate for Impress stamps. I adore that company!
On to the card making now ladies...
As you may have noticed I have been on an Hawaiian / island influence kick lately. So keeping with that I made this sketch for Beate's weekly challenge with an aloha theme.
The card was fun to make, I had this pattern paper forever and it was great to get it out and use some of it! Hope you like my take on the sketch!

Seahorse Birthday Wishes

Happy Thursday stampers, scrappers & crafters!

We have here in southern California today what is referred to as May gray! It is just that, gray skies of low clouds over the ocean and into the inland about 25 miles. Then we move into June gloom! There will be some random days of hot sun and wonderful days in between this coastal mess, but few and far between. There are many days when the sun shines through up on the mountain, but the coast stays socked in with low cloud cover. Good time for stamping! So that is my so Cal weather update! It is the same every year! We will try to get out to Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage soon, as it is lovely there now in the mid 80's. MY DH Dad lives out there and I do the spa thingie. It is about an 90 minute drive, not bad at all. There are incredible outlets on the way if I have it in me! Coach and Liz Clairborne and Guess, and Eddie Bauer. Pottery Barn, just to mention a few of my favs. Hubby is pretty good about it, he is NOT a shopper though. He would rather just hand me the cash and go watch sports and have a beer while I shop! Okay with me! He does like going into cool scrapbook/stamp stores with me, funny guy my Pete!
This pattern paper by Serendipity just caught my eye! I am a seahorse fan and I love the colors!I thought it best to let the paper take center stage. I added clear dew drops for the seashorse's bubbles, and the birthday wishes sentiment (?) used my corner tag SU punch on paper by Bazzill, ribbon by the yard Michael's.
Thanks for all of your great comments on my constant sentiment search! I concur with SU being great, and I am now inspired to go over to CHF and take a looksie! I am always searching for good ones on ebay too! Found a wonderful SU set last night, can't wait for it to arrive!
July seems so far off right now for the new catalog from SU, but heck the way April and now May are flying it'll be here before we know it! We better start making the picnic baskets for the 4th of July! (Just kiddin')!
Have a terrific happy and healthy day! Thanks for stopping by! I will be back soon, Deb

Bird tree

Happy Tuesday stampers. scrappers & crafters!

I certainly hope that your day is going great and all is well!
I recently bought this wonderful Tree Birds stamp (Impression Obsession) at a little stamp store near me with my daughter, we were just delighted when we saw it! I saw the coloring possibilities which I adore to do and couldn't wait to ink it up! I used Copics, and Dimensional Pearls on the birdies. Harmony stamp-(Hero Arts).
The card stock is Pretty In Pink (SU) and the blue is from Prisma. The PP I think was American Crafts. Corner ticket punch (SU) pop dots and satin ribbon by the yard from Michael's.
Thanks for visiting me today, I will be back soon! Resting up for Mother's Day!
Happy stamping! Deb

Aloha Penquin

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
I hope everyone enjoyed some form of creativity today!
This card today is from one of the darling hula penguin's stamps my Aloha April RAK sister Charlene, sent to me (previous post). My BF Cindy, had given me the cool background stamp by Hero Arts awhile back, so this was the perfect time to ink up the rubber! I didn't have an aloha stamp, so I hand wrote it and punched it out with my SU word punch. Pink Passion ink, SU (background stamp). penquin-black ink-Inkadinkado pad, Copic markers, pink Prima and bling. Marvy Scallop punches, pop dots. I sent this card off to my darling 3 year old grand daughter in Canada, along with the goodies I brought back for Isabella and baby Bennett from Kauai.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend! I will be back soon! Thanks for stopping by! Deb

Home from paradise

Some pictures to share...

Upon arrival, a tradtion my brother has is to take Kauai visitors to Duke's Canoe Club, Cindy and me (right).
Wailua River is amazing, so tranquil and the jungle comes right to the river. Check out the cool roots on the trees.

My dear and most special brother Richard and me at Duke's.Cindy & me at the glorious Beach House Resturant in Poipu
Happy Thursday stampers, scrappers & crafters! I am back!

Aloha everyone! Paradise was lovely as usual!
Trip summary:
The flight over was a bit difficult for me, as my legs were not fans of the long ride. We arrived safely in paradise and my BFF was my handy wheelchair assistant! What a significant help that was! My brother and his lovely wife met us with gorgeous lei's in hand and swept us off to a wonderful lunch at Dukes Canoe Club on the beach, yum!
We got to our condo and were so delighted with the gorgeous accommodations we had, the grounds were tropical and lush and perfect for us! I was exhausted and we rested that evening to recover for the next day!
I was the tour guide, as Cindy had not been before to Kauai. We went to gorgeous beach in Poipu and did a bit of snorkeling and then headed off for the north shore (about 2 hours). The drive is spectacular and many points of interest along the way! I took Cindy to Ke'ee Beach where Pete and I were married and she loved it so much! (What's not to love)! Each day was wonderful sharing together the beauty many food stops together! We kayaked with my brother and SIL. Margie. Margie had been doing a week long seminar on facial release and had met some need friends that joined us. Margie announced that there is an incredible trail through the jungle to a waterfall off of the Wailua River, (the degree of difficulty was not discussed with me, just great)! My brother had not been on this hike and as it turned out, it was way to much of a challenge with my health issues to conquer. Nonetheless, stupid me, I tried to be a tropper, and it really was not worth it for me in the end, but what are ya going to do? I had to give it a go! The girls gathered around me, and did their energy thingie. it was quite surreal there in the jungle, but I was not budging off of my mossy rock! My dear brother stayed with me and we sent the others on to enjoy the waterfall. It was nice to sit in the jungle with my bro and chat! Very cool! So I chomped down an energy bar and prayed I would make it back to the boat! LOL!
Well in a nutshell, that was the end of my good days in Kauai! Luckily it was toward the end of the trip and I rested 1/2 days at the condo and then would go to the beach for lunch and dinner. I was done in and not in good shape ladies! We all knew (family & friends)that this could be a possibility for me as traveling and over doing takes it toll on me, which is a shame because I love to travel to cool places!
Now home 10 days, I am still quite weak and ill, trying to avoid the doctor for now! Today is the first time I could even think about making a card and posting! I feel so blessed that I made it to Kauai and did as well as I did even if it was for just 4 of the 7 days! Seeing my brother and his new home and spending time on the island with my best bud Cindy was worth it all!
I missed my blogging and seeing all of your gorgeous creations! Google reader is off the charts way over 1000, I will just have to start fresh I guess! Yikes!
Super hugs, and more pics coming! Thanks for stopping by and visitng me!
Deb
