Camera poll

Camera SOS!
I would like to enlist your help on the purchase of a new camera! Hope you are up for it, and you will leave me a comment as to which camera you use (brand & model). What the primary function of your camera is used for and what do you like about it (if you like it) He he!
I am narrowing it down, and I don't want to order it on line, as I am a touchy feely gotta see it kinda of buyer! Especially a camera!
Thanks a bunch! In the meantime I will just make cards and blurf!
Deb

I'd love to help you out Deb but my camera is not the best either and I could really do with a new one. Sorry.

I think I'll keep up with the replies to this post. It would be interesting to see what camera fellow crafters recomend. :-)

Hugs

Well, I have a Canon PowerShot A560, and I love it! It has the macro setting for taking close ups of my projects. I know that there are more recent versions of the PowerShot, but we chose this one because my husband got it for free with lots of travel points that he had accumulated. My camera also isn't really slim, but that doesn't bother me. The best thing for me is that I use Duracell rechargeable AA batteries. The are NiMH batteries, I got 4 batteries (the camera take two at a time), and I got a mini charger, so I always have batteries ready to go. Good luck with your camera purchase!

P.S. I like the new look of your blog!

The Cannon S5 IS (or the S3 IS which is what I have) is an AMAZING camera. I chose this camera because it's not a full-sized body like an SLR, but it's not a small sqaure slip-in-your-pocket camera, either. It has some "weight" to it and has the body style of a big camera to give you something to hold on to.

The camera takes AMAZING video, don't even own a video camera anymore because I have this. Has a feature in it to help with shaky hands, and gets great clarity with sound.

I am addicted to concerts, and am able to take amazing pictures with it in all sorts of lighting. I use the continuous shot mode in the program feature and can easily manuveur through manual ISOs if needed. I also use the sports mode quite a bit at shows.

I use my camera for quite a bit of family shots indoors and out. Use all sorts of modes---gets GREAT B&W, as well as highlighting on a certain color in that mode. Can do great microzoom work with it, have taken some nature shots I would put into a contest with it.

Has 6 megapixels and gets pretty nice resolution with just 6. Has a 12x zoom--NICE.

This camera was recommended by a fellow concert goer, and as such I think at LEAST 10 friends (who are all also moms) have bought this...pretty funny when we all travel together, we all have the same one and have had to put tags and such on them so we know whose is whose! Can't recommend this camera enough!!!!

I have an older Olympus C-750 with Ultra Zoom. When my camera dies, I'm thinking of getting a Canon PowerShot Pro S5 or S3.

Oh...and good luck with your decision!! Hugs!!

Hi Deb! I don't have the Canon S5, (my sister does)but I have to say it is a great little camera! It has some awesome creative functions that would work well for your other shots too. I have an "oldie" (Nikon D70), and love mine too, but that Canon is tempting!

I have that little Canon Power Shot Digital Elph that I love!

I got sqare and circle set of nestabilities. Ellen Hutson has them on sale for $21.95! I am getting more.

I luv my Canon PowerShot SD400 (it's 3 1/2 years old now) digital camera. It's small enough to drop into my purse & I just point & shoot. When I take pics of my cards I just shut off the flash & click the picture...so easy! I think they sell them now as Powershot SD1000 I think???

I just found your blog today through Beate's. That card is TOO stinkin' cute!!!!
I am a camera...well, lets just say I LOVE cameras (heeheehee) so I was interested to see what your readers are suggesting by way of cameras. I'm going to have to look into that Canon S5. Looks like there are quite a few who love it!!
I am currently using the Sony DSC-H50 and I have no complaints so far. I've had it for 4 months now and use it ALL the time. Before it I used the DSC-H1 and before it the Sony that had the LONG lens. I still have both others and just loan them out. The H50 has a TON of features, many of which I haven't used yet. It's a 9.1 megapixel with a 15X optical zoom--ONE of the big selling points for me. Really if I went in to all that I like about it this post would be MUCH LONGER!! :) BUT, I am very happy with it. I liked the H-1 but HATED, DETESTED, that it used AA batteries. This new H50 uses the lithium ion, G type. Check out the reviews for it and compare it to others when you get a minute.
Good Luck in your quest!!!!
Oh, and PS-I really enjoy your blog!! You're saved!!!!
Smiles,
S

I've been a Canon user for about 15years and have used many point and shoots and SLR's both film and digital and I love them all. Canon has been a great company to deal with and I have never had an issue with my equipment. I currently use a Canon Rebel xti 10mp. I've been using lately for my cards and kids, but I have an extensive lens and accessory collection and love to do macro work (close ups). I don't know if any of this helps-but it's my 2 cents!

The one feature I cannot do without is the closeup feature that allows me to take projects pictures without them getting blurry! And, I don't like cameras that require the rechargeable batteries, I like the power pack which is what my Kodak uses!! Seems to last waaaayyyy longer!! Smooches, my friend - can't wait to see your new toy! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex

Hi! I just finished buying a camera....I'm not sure what features you are looking for but for under $400 the Canon Powershot 890 IS and the Olympus SP 570 UZ are both great cameras...I went with a Pentax formore money as I wanted to be able to use a wide angle lens. Good Luck

I love my Sony DSC-T100. It's an older model. My husband just got the newer Sony model (DSC-T300) and he loves it. Both are great for taking close ups.

The cannon rebel XTI (without a doubt)..

It is the last camera I will ever want. It has a sport feature that will allow you to take pictures quickly at events like convention.. :) It's very good quality.. I cant say enough about it. Truly the "stampers camera"

We take lots of photographys in my family as its a hobby of all of us girls....me and 2 DD's. They both have canon powershot SD1100 and love it. Both are in college and people are always asking them what kind of camera they have cause it takes such great pictures. It has macro, landscape, and everything you'd want including a setting that makes one thing in the picture colored while everything else is B/Wsuper sweet. Email me if you'd like some sample photos from this cameraIcould post to my blog too. lmk

Hey Deb! First, thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for leaving a nice comment. Thanks also for the kind comments about my photography! The camera I use is a Kodak Z612. As you can see from my photos, it does a great job and has tons of features. Its zoom is absolutely incredible too! They are not that expensive either. I've always had Kodak, and I would never buy anything else. Easy to use, great photo quality, reliable, etc. Hope this helps! And thanks again for visiting! Best, Curt
