No stampin' for a few days!

Not the best news...but in good hands!

I am sorry to say that my health took a rather painful turn in direction, thus I have landed a private room on the golf course with an ocean view at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla.

If you must be in a hospital, this is one of the best, so for that I am blessed indeed! Extensive tests and procedures are being done, and perhaps I may go home Monday if all goes okay.

I was so looking forward to Beate's weekend challenge and making cards these past few days! I have been in hospital since Thursday night. I received 2 units in a blood transfusion to help my low red cell blood count.

I am tough and trying to be as positive as possible! My daughters are at my side and my DH has been by with gorgeous Stargazer Lilies to fill my room with such a pleasant aroma.

Hope to back posting Monday, if I get out by then.

Happy stampin'! Deb

BACK HOME SAFE AND SOUND!

A card I made for Kimberly's birthday at Crafty Me.

Thank you all for you thoughtful concerned comments and prayers during my evacuation from the Witch Creek Fire (appropriately named). We are back in our home and there is no smoke damage! We are very blessed with regard to the devastation these fires produced and the many lost homes of friends and neighbors on our mountain and in our once, soon to be again beautiful valley.

The exit was a harrowing experience with winds over 65 mph, ambers and ash and smoke made it extremely difficult to breathe, let alone drive down a mountain road! A huge tree branch broke off right in front of me while leaving, I though this could be my demise, as the road was blocked! No other way out either! My angels were working overtime, as there was just barely enough room for me to get around the huge branch that had fallen! At 2 AM in the morning, I was exhausted and sick from the fire smoke and ash, as I attempted to head to a safer spot to rest until what available daylight would come. I must have dozed off crunched up in my front seat for about 45 minutes or so, when I woke up to 20 screeching firetrucks roaring by me! I couldn't see further than 10 feet! The ambers were awful, and then I knew the fire had blazed all the way down the mountain/valley and jumped the 10 lane freeway and was again upon me! I got the heck out of there just in the nick of time and made my exodus like many inching along the freeway to the ocean. I found a safe haven at my girlfriend's home by the coast where me and my 87 lb doggie stayed for one week! Meantime, DH was in Los Angeles working while his DW is in survival mode! Whew...that just plum wore me out ladies! No worries, the stamps ALL were packed as was all of my ink, ribbon, punches and as much paper as I could grab and fit in car! Treasured albums, my wedding scrapbook album, I adore! And of course, my laptop and PC hard drive! I grabbed as many pictures as I could of the kids when they were little and my DH's classic Fender electric guitar (of course) and a few documents! That was it!
My health has been compromised by this ordeal, my doctors have been fabulous and are doing their best to help me, I have the very best in their respective fields and believe me the is very reassuring! I have had immediate and ongoing care with the Scripps ClinicI go to for medical treatment in La Jolla, CA..

We have a powerful generator running, so as you can see I am online and able to keep the refrigerator on, lights and watch TV in the evening. I am using my propane BBQ for cooking. The water is not good to go- yet, a treatment plant was severely damaged, so it could be another week or so. Power poles are being replaced by helicopter on the steepest slopes of the mountain here, they are doing a great job! Hope to be up and running with power in a week. My daily hot shower is a must! I drive down to the tennis and swim club and stand in the shower for a long time, not wanting to get out! We are so blessed, these are just mere inconveniences, we had a home to come home too! Thank the lord!
Now on to important matters at hand here...stampin' and making cards! I am going to be one busy bee, I missed my stampin' so much and all of your creations! I will do my best to catch up!
Thanks for stopping by and happy stampin'! Oh goodie it's Friday! Beate's challenge time! Deb

STAMP RAK

Stamp angels please consider this RAK!
(This post shall remain at the top of the page for 2 weeks, please scroll down for newer posts)

*Those of you who are planning to send stamps to Maria and have already contacted me, please make note that there are 2 ll's in Fruitville! If already sent, I am sure the packages will make it okay! No worries! THANKS! ~

There is a really sweet gal Marla, (A little bit of everything) in Ontario, Canada that lost her home and everything in it! Thank God she and her family survived the devastating home fire and are okay!

Needless to say, Marla will need to start an entire new collection of stamps! This is where you card angels come in! This is a wonderful cause for us to pull together, and send Marla stamps, gently used or new ones if you like. I am thinking a little gift certificate to Michael's may be nice too! So, if you are in the US or know Marla from Canada, any help would be so awesome! Marla is terribly humbled by this effort, so lets step up and give her a stampin' hand!

Marla and her family are moving to Florida in a week, so the stamps will go to her new Florida addie.

If you would like to help out, please leave an angel comment here and email me, so I can send you the mailing information in Florida. Thank you so very much!

Bless you all and have a terrific day! Happy stampin'!

San Diego Fires

Hi, this is not Deborah, but rather, Domenica (her daughter & fellow blogger). I wanted to update my mom's readers to let you know that my mom evacuated her home at 2am. The back roads to her home (on the mountain) were being closed due to the threat of the fires. My mom packed-up with her nearly 80-pound German Shepard and everything sentimental that she could possibly cram into her car. On a funny note, her dog was sitting next to a pile of ribbon (she did try to take a lot of paper crafting supplies with her). She is at a friend's house for the time being and is not sure if she will have a home to return to when she is allowed back up the mountain. It is very upsetting, but I am just happy that she was able to get out safely.

If my mom is in a swap with you, etc, you can email me at domenica at shaw dot ca or contact me on my blog and I can see if there is any way that I can help out.

Thanks! And, all good thoughts/prayers are greatly appreciated!

Rejoice - Reindeer

Happy Sunday stampers!

Perhaps you may have noticed than I am enamored with theses new Flourishes sets! I was very impressed wth the friendly personal customer service that this company offers. The stamps come in a nice bag with a Flourish tag and ribbon at the top. Inside the bag, the stamps are nicely hand wrapped in pink tissue with more ribbon. How very nice indeed to purchase from smaller companies and receive that kind of servie.

This card was fun to create, however looking back at it now, perhaps it would be better to have stamped the reindeer in a bolder ink, such as the Glorious Green. Next time I shall!

CS White scallop (Bazzill).
Stamps-Reindeer & Rejoice (Flourishes) Mini swirls (SU).
Ink- Regal Rose, Glorious Green & Real Red (SU).

We have tremendous Santa Ana winds here today, in excess of 20 mph currently! Hope the satellite stays up and running okay! Not to mention our high fire danger warnings! Here we go again October in Southern California! LOL! Deb

Santa as merry...

Happy Saturday stampers!

I had been wanting to make a circle hole punch card, so I gave it a go! I really like Santa popping through the circle! I am slowy but surely getting a nice collection of Christmas cards going! I am mass producing note cards in packs of 10, in between too! Too much fun!

I was thinking, that I'm not the only one to have been laying in the bath or bed and a card idea pops into your head, right? Of course not! I read a blogger that got an idea in the middle of night and her DH just rolled his eyes and rolled over and went back to sleep! LOL! So funny! The trick is, at least for me is to remember the idea! LOL! Sometimes I get up and scribble down my thoughts! You know you have the card bug when it is consuming your thoughts! I love to be consumed, works for me! It is a good thing, a good consumption!

Special card from Rose Ann!

(hope the picture isn't too light)

What a nice surprise today in my mailbox!
I have a daily routine that my dear German Shepherd Lobie and I do every afternoon...we walk through the groves up to a clearing where I can see many vistas including the ocean. If we time it right, I see at least 6-8 hot air balloons out toward the Pacific. The backdrop of the sunset on its way is just breath taking!

This walk is such a blessing to me every day! My pooch is so happy and always has an avocado "to go" (in his mouth)! He is as fit as a fiddle from running up and down the mountain, he is one solid guy! On the "loop" we walk, the mailbox is on our way home and I it is always so nice when there is somethng special and not bills!

Dear Rose Ann sent me this gorgeous card today and she made me smile big time! Thanks Rose Ann! I should put a big heart on my mailbox, there is a whole lot of love passing through it! Have a terrific weekend! Happy stampin'! Deb

Our health is our wealth!

Hi blogger buddies, happy Monday to you!

I am under or over the weather today! I will respond to all of your angel Rak comments, as soon as I feel a bit better. Thank you for your generosity and support for Marla.
When I am ill, I certainly realize how vital it is to feel well enough to do the things you need and love to do on a daily basis. We just usually take it for granted each day, as we go about in so many directions! I have good days and bad ones, but I am happy to say I had 20 happy faces on my calendar in a row recently! That was huge for me! I keep that in perspective to be sure and count my blessings!
Please hang in there with me, check back later on, I have a card to post.
Did you notice that Blogger is doing a mini maintenance/outage today I think at 4PM PDT for a short time. Okay, I am going to rest now and hope to be doing much better later on.

Stampin' hugs to all of you!
Have healthy happy day! Deb

Tagged by Samm!

Okay 7 things about myself (of interest) hmmmm...lets see...
Not sure how interesting these are to you...but here goes!

1) When I was a child I pretended to be a horse and make stick jumps and play horse show! I became an accomplished equestrian wining top honors for many years, and studied in Ireland.

2) My youngest daughter sent me a balloon from school and drew a wonderful picture, which I still treasure today. The balloon flew by me in Malibu, CA I swear!

3) I had a dream that my third baby was a pretty little blonde girl, running through the fields and her name was Heidi. I had a pretty little blonde girl, and I knew she was my Heidi! That was so cool!

4) I know ahead of time when my DH, kids or best friend are going to call me! I just feel it!

5) I remember things that I am blown away with that I remember! Believe me I DO have senior moments! He he!

6) I have snow skied in the morning and gone to the beach in he afternoon!

7) I have used 10 of my 9 lives (At least)! LOL!

That is what comes to mind.
Have a great day! Deb

HAPPY CARDMAKING DAY TO EVERYONE ALL OVER THE WORLD!

Bountiful: Abundant;plentiful
Thus is the blessings we have upon this fabulous day! The power in numbers of cardmakers and scrappers alike all over the world to share our love and obsession! Enjoy! Stamp, cut , emboss and be merry! Have fun loving what you love to do!

In the last Hero Arts catalog were some pictures of many gorgeous stamps and designs. I gravitated toward this bountiful stamp and the greasses. I found the sentiment box of 5 words on ebay, and my very special stamp store ordered the grass stamp for me! So I cased this from the Hero Arts catalog of past, and I do believe I did it justice! I tried very hard to make it so nice! Hope you all like this card too!

I found this fun turkey paper the other day at one of my favorite scrapbook stores, and I just couldn't wait to make a card with it! Turkey's going every which way, and the reverse side is a fun pumpkin design! The recipe for this turkey gobble gobble card:
CS - Shimmer sand (Bazzil) Chocolate (Bazzil)
DP-Reminsce (love this company)!
Die cut gobble gobble with Prima flower and rust brad (MM)
Orange gingham bow- (my local scrapper store).

Beate's weekend challenge - SCS # 20

Happy Sunday stampers!
My daughter and I went to lunch yesterday and we stopped by one of my favorite super duper scrapbook stores! I of course was in heaven, as the store has a vast impressive inventory of fabulous paper and tons of everything else to clean your wallet out! LOL! I found the reindeer paper in My Mind's Eye section and thought it was so cute! In the back of the store were several tables full of "garage sale" items, customers had brought in to sell. Many brand new items and stamps galore! There were a few SU sets still in the boxes unmounted, although I already had them or didn't feel the need to have them. I did manage to find a single cool stamp for $2.00! I will be making a card soon with this new stamp. TMF!
This sketch was a good one as they all are with Beate! Thanks Beate, I look forward to these each weekend!
The card ingredients are as follows:
CS-Sand -(Bazzil), Chocolate shimmer (Bazzil), Bashful Blue (SU). DP-(My Mind's Eye). Merry Christmas stamp (Hampton Arts) Michael's 25% off! Reindeer stamp (Moose you set-SU). Ink-Chocolate brown (Anna Griffin). Edges inked with the chocolate brown ink. Sheer blue ribbon (Michael's). Pop dots beneath Merry Christmas image. The picture is not true to color as seen IRL. The background of the reindeer is beige, but it seemed to have picked up a different hue., just thought I would mention that! LOL Deb!
I have a serious confession to make, I do not have Chocolate chip paper or ink by SU! Can you imagine that? I know most of you can't live without it, and I wonder how the heck I have done so! LOL! Ordering it ASAP!
Hope your Sunday is going great! Happy stampin'! Deb

Napa Valley wine labels

Happy Saturday my blogging friends!

We are finally having a light rain that we so desperately need! Southern California is a crispy cracker, and we are coming up on our fire season. Lets hope we get some serious rain from this storm passing by.
It is so nice to get up Saturday morning with my coffee cup in hand and go to blogland! I will be working on Beate's sketch among other things today. In the meantime, I made this card last night to share this morning. The wine label paper is so cool, I just love it! What a fabulous scrapper background paper page this would make if you'd gone on a wine country tour. I haven't gone wine tasting in so long, but is is fun and such beautiful country, not to mention the fabulous food along the way! Yum!

Ingredients for a good vintage wine card as follows:
CS- Harvest gold-Bazzil, Creme-Bazzil, Chocolate brown-Bazzil, PP-BOBUNNY-Napa Valley Wine Labels.
SU corner tag punch, Brown ribbon grosgrain-SU.
Thanks for stopping by, happy stampin'! Have a terrific day! Deb

Asian Love

Over at Angel's blog, I saw "Pay it forward", I was one of the first 3 to comment on a post of hers. Sweet Angel sent me a very nice RAK which I will share on my blog as soon as I get a picture. Thanks Angel, you are such a sweetie!
The first 3 comments on this post will receive a RAK from me. Then each of you (the first 3) do the same on your blog and so on and so on. It is a really nice way to share something with a fellow blogger. Thanks for stopping by and playing!

Now to the card !
The other day on SCS there was a challenge in which the embellishment used was limited. I am not sure what exactly it was called, but you all probably know the one I mean. Beate had used pine needles on her beautiful card, and another person used some discarded jewelry to make another stunning creation. I used horse tails on this Asian flair love card. Brown corrugated brown paper, Asian paper (source unknown), Certainly Celery (SU) Love symbol stencil ((Walmart). Brown raffia (Michael's'). Corner round punch (EKS).
Have a great Monday! Please email me your addie if you are one of the first 3 to post comment, have fun stampin'! Deb

Peaceful Wishes card for the troops

Happy Saturday stampers!
This Christmas card is for the troops that need our support, especially during the holidays. Paula is posting these cards on her blog (loves blooms in me) will send the info to you on
where to send the troop cards. I am going to try and get a few more made. (Link not working, sorry).
This SU set Peaceful Wishes was the first set I ever purchased, last year when all this stampin' began for me! I love this set and you can do so much with it. That is the beauty of the SU sets, the versatility of them., not to mention how well they stamp! You already know that! He he!
CS-Whisper White (SU) Ink-Glorious Green, Real Red & Anna Griffin Choc. Brown. SU brown grosgrain ribbon on side of card. Keeping the card simple but having a holiday flair was my objective, I didn't want to gussy this one up for a tough Marine or Navy or Army guy to receive! I wouldn't image they would be into bows and such! Bless them all for what they do each and every day!
Have a great stampin' day, off to do Beate's challenge! Thanks for your visits! Deb

Cherish

This cherish chipboard has been popping up around my embellies lately, but I just wasn't sure what to do with it! So I just cherished it a while...
I was going through some paper and organizing it by color, and I came across this cool metallic paper. I had a 6 x 6 piece of sweet pp and I thought with some pale pink rose paper this would be nice. Corner tag punch (SU). Cherish chip board (Bohemia) pop dots beneath. Flower punch (EKS). I folded in the petals of 3 flowers and layered them for dimension. Rust brad in the center (MM). Pop dots beneath flower.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by today! Deb
